Y: THE LAST MAN Has A New Showrunner

A little update on FX's long-gestating Y: The Last Man series, via the BMD inbox: after losing the show's original showrunners back in April, Eliza Clark has joined the production as writer, showrunner and executive producer. The cast's the same, the network's the same, the source material's the same - but now they've got one helluva captain steering the ship.

For those unfamiliar with her work: Eliza Clark was a writer on TNT's Animal Kindgom (which she also executive-produced), AMC series The Killing and Rubicon, and CBS' Extant. This writer will fess up and admit to having never heard of Extant, but if it's half as good as these other shows, well, we're probably in good hands.

Says Clark:

"A decade ago I devoured the complete Y: The Last Man series cover to cover, imagining how it might take shape on screen.  It introduced me to the amazing work of Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra and the complex, fascinating world of Y. I'm thrilled to tell this story and to be working with this immensely talented cast."

The Y: The Last Man series has taken a long, strange journey on its way in front of cameras. Back in April, former showrunners Aida Croal and Michael Green abruptly exited the series, with THR citing the standard "creative differences" between the pair and the network. We've been in a holding pattern on this one ever since, so it's good to hear things are resuming, and with such a formidable talent behind the wheel.
