Marilyn Manson Has A Role In THE STAND Miniseries, Apparently

Casting recently began for Josh Boone's long-developing adaptation of The Stand, which has become a 10-episode limited series on CBS All Access (aka the thing you occasionally pay for when you want to watch the new Star Trek or Twilight Zone eps). The initial casting report revealed a handful of actors in talks to play the usual suspects from Stephen King's epic post-apocalyptic novel, including James Marsden as Stu Redman (sure!), Amber Heard as Nadine Cross (okay...?), and Whoopi Goldberg as Mother Abagail (sure, Jan). It was a largely – how do I put this – underwhelming report that didn't exactly bode well for The Stand. It might not be awful, but it's not looking particularly spectacular based on the ensemble CBS is looking to assemble here. If you, like us, were a little disappointed in that uninspired list of names, then here's one that might perk you up. Coming entirely out of left field is one Marilyn Manson, aka Brian Warner, who recently told Revolver that he's not only recorded a track for The Stand, but he also has a role in it: 

Shooter [Jennings} and I did a cover of “The End” by the Doors, for a new miniseries of The Stand by Stephen King, which I’m also going to be acting in.

So it's kind of a good news/bad news sitch in which the good news is dependent upon your appreciation of Marilyn Manson, Actor. Good-ish news: Marilyn Manson has a role in The Stand, which could be interesting as hell. Bad news: He also recorded a cover of a song by the friggin' Doors for the soundtrack. Maybe that's not entirely surprising, considering that CBS is to dads what CBS All Access is to Cool Dads, and Cool Dads love them some Doors.
