SDCC 2019: Marvel’s SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS Cast Is Absolutely Amazing

You guys, hold onto your asses. Marvel is going to finally give us a real Mandarin in its upcoming Shang-Chi and he’s going to be played by none other than Tony Leung. For real. I seriously cannot believe Leung is going to be in the Marvel universe.

We also learned who will be playing Shang-Chi, a Canadian actor named Simi Liu. He hasn’t been in a lot of things as far as I can tell. But if Marvel cast him (and they apparently cast him almost immediately) it must be for good reason.

Finally, fucking Awkwafina will be in this. We don’t know who she is playing yet, but still. That’s incredible.

(Also, no big whip but the film also just got a super fun full title: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.)

Yes, I’m maybe just a bit overexcited, but Marvel doing a martial arts movie is already way up my alley. Adding Tony Leung and Awkwafina? Brilliant. The only thing I don’t like is how this could be construed as a win for all those who hated the Iron Man 3 Mandarin plot twist. Then again, if you’re one of those folks, you must be doubly happy right now.
