The First ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP Trailer Has Just About Everything

We didn't know we wanted this sequel so badly until right now.

It's been long enough since the first Zombieland arrived that you might not really care one way or another about seeing a sequel (maybe it's been years since you even watched the original Zombieland). Least, that's how I felt around the time that Sony announced Zombieland: Double Tap. Sure, it's cool they were able to get all these now exponentially-more-famous folks together in 2019, but...it's been a decade. I just wasn't clamoring for a follow-up in the same way that I was ten years ago.

That sentiment lasted right up until I watched the very fun first trailer for Zombieland: Double Tap, which has everything you never knew you wanted from a Zombieland sequel: Monster Trucks smearing zombies all over the pavement, Woody Harrelson smoking a cigar in the Oval Office, new characters, ridiculous costumes, a gigantic bag of weed...

Yes. Yes, this will do quite nicely. See if you don't agree.

This looks fun, right?

It definitely appears to be more of the same - director Ruben Fleischer, working from a script by original Zombieland scribes Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and series newcomer David Callaham, have clearly not monkeyed with the formula that worked so well last time - but what's the harm in "more of the same" when "more of the same" is such dumb fun? I'm all set on dreary, stone-faced zombie apocalypse stories where characters must grapple with man's inhumanity to man on top of a creeping zombie threat. Give me Monster Truck kills. Give me Woody Harrelson in an Elvis costume. Give me Bizarro World Jesse Eisenberg, as played by Thomas Middleditch.

Here's an official plot synopsis:

"After the events of the first film, Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita and Little Rock move to the American heartland as they face off against evolved zombies, fellow survivors and the growing pains of the snarky makeshift family."

My guess is, Zombieland: Double Tap will double down on the surprises that made the first film such a breath of fresh air (remember how your brain melted right out your earholes when Bill Murray showed up in the first one?), and I can't wait to find out what they might be.

Zombieland: Double Tap arrives on October 14th. You interested in what they're selling, or not so much? Sound off in the comments below, and stay tuned for further updates as they roll in. We're excited for this one.
