Here’s What Feels Like A Very Spoilery Trailer For THE HUNT

Watch at your own risk.

We're very, very curious about Blumhouse's The Hunt, which is headed our way this September from director Craig Zobel (Z for Zachariah, the so-disturbing-I-only-watched-it-once Compliance) and writers Damon Lindelof and Nick Cuse (The Leftovers). The chatter surrounding this one has involved a few intriguing rumors (who knows if they're true), and so far the film's marketing department has seemed extra careful in its dissemination of information. It's all been very intriguing.

Today, a great deal of that mystery ends with The Hunt's new trailer, which feels like it might be oversharing just a tad.

Of course we won't know until we've actually seen Zobel's film, but this certainly feels like one of those trailers that walks you through most of the movie's major beats, doesn't it? If so, that's unfortunate, because what's here looks like a strong take on the "Humans hunting other humans for sport" sub-genre. Oh, well. We'll give it a shot either way when it hits theaters.

Here's an official synopsis:

"Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don’t know where they are, or how they got there. They don't know they've been chosen…for a very specific purpose …The Hunt.

In the shadow of a dark internet conspiracy theory, a bunch of elites gathers for the very first time at a remote Manor House to hunt humans for sport. But the elites’ master plan is about to be derailed because one of the hunted, Crystal (Betty Gilpin, GLOW), knows The Hunters’ game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers, picking them off, one by one, as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman (two-time Oscar® winner Hilary Swank) at the center of it all."

What do you make of all this? Like what you're seeing? Not so much? Think they tipped their hand a bit too much with this trailer? Let us know where your heads are at in the comments below, and do stay tuned.
