IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA Season 14 Welcomes Dolph Lundgren As Thundergun

The Thundergun Express has finally arrived.

If you don’t know it yet, now’s the time to learn: It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is my favorite show ever. I’ve been watching it repeatedly since season four (okay, I don’t repeatedly watch “Frank’s Brother”, “A Cricket’s Tale” or “Being Frank”, but all the others are in heavy rotation).

So as you can imagine, I was very excited to see a brief preview of what to expect from season fourteen pop up over at Deadline. You can go read it yourself, but there’s going to be a noir episode, an episode inspired by Waiting for Godot, and AirBnB episode, a global warming episode, and then something very special.

We don’t know the context, but Dolph Lundgren will appear on the show as John Thundergun, star of Thundergun Express, a film featured in an episode way back in season seven (and then again in season nine’s “The Gang Squashes their Beefs”). We never actually got to see any of Thundergun Express in the show, particularly any of the dong Lundgren’s character supposedly hangs.

How will the gang meet Thundergun? How badly will they fuck up his life? Will he even survive? It’s worth noting the gang has mentioned Lundgren by name in the season five episode “Mac and Charlie Write a Movie”. So is he playing himself playing Thundergun? And can he smell crime or what?

I have no idea, but this is exciting news all the same. In my opinion, this is a show that keeps growing in quality every year, so obviously I’m on the hook for whatever their offering in this new season.
