Gemma Chan Might Join THE ETERNALS
Gemma Chan is the latest name in talks to join the ever-expanding MCU. THR reports that Chan, who starred in last year's mega-hit Crazy Rich Asians, is eyeing a role in The Eternals – though it's unclear if she'll be playing her character from Captain Marvel or if she's in talks for a different part (it wouldn't be the first time that an actor played two different roles for Marvel). In that film, Chan played the pivotal role of Minn-Erva, a badass member of the Kree race.
In addition, Collider reports that Chernobyl and The Killing of a Sacred Deer star Barry Keoghan (aka Irish Tye Sheridan, aka Spaghetti Sociopath) is also in talks for a role. Chloe Zhao (The Rider) is directing The Eternals based on the classic Jack Kirby comics, which follow super-powered quasi-immortals known as the Eternals (doy) – who were, like their evil counterparts (the Deviants), created by the Celestials (just do some googling).
Marvel recently made The Eternals a bit more official at SDCC 2019, where they revealed the initial ensemble: Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Don Lee, and Lia McHugh. Chan and Keoghan are pretty great additions to an increasingly awesome cast, which should grow a bit more in the coming months. The Eternals is currently scheduled for a November 6, 2020 release.
