HOME ALONE Is Getting Rebooted For Disney+

Along with a few other titles. And probably all of the titles, eventually.

What is Disney going to do with its new catalog of Fox films? What do you think?

Yesterday Disney had a big earnings call with investors and one big bit of info dropped by Bob Iger is a rebooting of many Fox films for Disney+. Probably the most noteworthy of these: Home Alone.

According to Collider, the Home Alone reboot already has a premise and everything. Instead of being about a MacGyver brat who annihilates a couple of robbers, this version would be about a husband and wife who take on a MacGyver brat who has stolen something from them. Borat’s Dan Mazer might direct and they apparently want Melissa McCarthy to star in it.

But that’s not all! They also want to reboot Night at the Museum, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Cheaper by the Dozen along with who knows what else. Probably everything on a long enough timeline.

And this is all in service of Disney+, which is now going to have a pricing tier that includes Hulu (with ads) and ESPN+ (I’m not really sure what sports they show, specifically, or if it's any good) for $13. Which is to say, yes, I’m going to have this on my television.

I’ll probably be missing all these reboots though. I know a lot of you adore Home Alone. Hey, I grew up with it too. But I think at this point, I’m fine skipping the reboot. Especially with all the other offerings Disney+ will have.
