Pixar’s SOUL Sounds Pretty Out There (Like Trent Reznor Out There)

Pixar really dropped some information about their upcoming 2020 film Soul at D23 today. The film is apparently about “metaphysics” and involves some big twist we don’t know yet. What we do know is it is about an aspiring jazz musician who ends up at some kind of school for souls called the You Seminar.

Okay, maybe we don’t know enough about the plot. But the cast! Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey will both be in the film as well as Questlove, Phylicia Rashad, and Daveed Diggs.

Here’s the big thing. The film is going to have a large music presence and that’s going to be aided by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross and Jon Batiste. Hey, if Kurt Cobain were alive, he’d probably be scoring Pixar films too. Right? Right?

Anyway, I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more about Soul as it develops. Joking aside, this is the kind of stuff I always hope for from Pixar.
