Back in 2017, Alexandre O. Philippe released 78/52, an exhaustively-detailed, feature-length documentary that examined the shower scene from Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho from every conceivable angle. Now, two years later, Philippe is back with another cinematic deep dive doc, this one centered around Ridley Scott's Alien. It probably goes without saying that we are very excited for this movie.
Today we're thrilled to be sharing Memory: The Origins of Alien's very first trailer, just weeks ahead of the film screening at this year's Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX. How's it look? Like catnip for Alien nerds.
See if you don't agree:
The history of Alien - as a production, as a sci-fi/horror classic, as an influential work of art - has been well-documented at this point, so it'll be interesting to see if Philippe's able to uncover anything new and noteworthy, or to approach the film from an angle we haven't seen before. We're looking forward to finding out next month.
Oh, and if you're not coming to Fantastic Fest this year (boooo), be aware that you can catch Memory: The Origins of Alien in select theaters and OnDemand starting October 4th. Stay tuned for more on this one as further updates roll in.
