The ongoing battle to get a third Bad Boys movie has stretched on for so long, there came a point where we honestly didn't think it was gonna happen. And so, back in January, when the first photo from Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah's Bad Boys For Life landed, we were sort of amazed. Holy shit! They actually got everyone on the same page long enough to make this happen!
We're feeling a bit like that again today, watching the film's first trailer:
Well, it's got all the familiar symptoms of a Bad Boys movie: Will Smith being touch, Martin Lawrence being a little wacky, lots of flashy cars and explosions and shiny buildings. Obviously it doesn't have that Michael Bay touch, but it remains to be seen whether or not that element is vital to the Bad Boys formula. Guess we'll find out soon enough.
Here's an official plot synopsis:
"Marcus Burnett is now a police inspector and Mike Lowery is in a midlife crisis. They unite again when an Albanian mercenary, whose brother they killed, promises them an important bonus."
Bad Boys For Life (starring Smith, Lawrence, Alexander Ludwig, Vanessa Hudgens and Charles Melton) hits theaters on January 17th, 2020.
