RAW Director Julia Ducournau Is Back With A New Movie

We don't know anything about it yet, but we're hyped.

Disclosure: Tim League, founder and CEO of Birth.Movies.Death.’s parent company Alamo Drafthouse, is a co-founder of NEON.

A few years ago, I walked into a Fantastic Fest screening of Julia Ducournau's Raw with absolutely no idea what I was getting into. Sure, I'd heard the movie was violent. And yeah, I'd heard it was great. But nothing I'd heard had prepared me for what exactly Ducournau had created: a new kind of cannibal movie, one that had more than a few things to say about family and social anxiety and sex and, well, you name it. Raw had a lot on its mind, and it delivered in spades. I emerged from that theater two hours later a Julia Ducournau superfan.

And so, it is with great pleasure that I report the following: Ducournau has a new movie on the way, something called Titane, and it's already secured North American distribution via our friends at NEON. We don't know what it's about. We don't know who's gonna be in it. All we know is that it's on the way, and that's a reason to celebrate.

Because this is one of those posts - y'know, the kind where we have little to report beyond the promise of something happening in the future - I will use this opportunity to recommend Raw to every last one of you (okay, well, maybe not to those adverse to gore). It really is one of the best horror films of the past decade, and deserves as many eyeballs as it can get.

Stay tuned for more on Titane as further updates become available. We'll be keeping a close eye on this one, that's for sure.
