Your Favorite ‘90s Marvel Shows Are Coming To Disney+
If you're still on the fence about subscribing to Disney+, then Disney's going to hit you right in the '90s nostalgia. According to Disney+ free trial testers in Europe, the streaming service is carrying many of the Fox Kids animated Marvel shows that, if you're a certain age, probably introduced you to the X-Men, Spider-Man, and others.
The exact shows (according to The Playlist) include X-Men: The Animated Series, Spider-Man: The Animated Series, Fantastic Four: The Animated Series, Iron Man, and The Incredible Hulk. Back when these shows first aired, many of them were produced by Marvel in conjunction with either Fox or Saban Entertainment. Seeing how Disney has since then acquired both companies, I bet it wasn't difficult for them to finagle the streaming rights. Still, the fact that they're loading these shows - along with their extensive in-house TV animation library - on Day 1 shows how Disney+ isn't here to play around.
But I'd like to know what their streaming plans are for the Holy Trinity of Marvel Cartoons: X-Men: Evolution, The Spectacular Spider-Man, and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. The former two might have a complicated rights situation, since they were originally distributed by WB and Sony respectively, but Avengers: EMH was entirely Disney. Surely they intend to cater to '00s nostalgia as well as '90s, right? I mean, why else are we getting a new Lizzie McGuire series? Please feed my childhood back to me through an IV tube, Disney+!
