Composer Podcast: Emile Mosseri Scores THE LAST BLACK MAN IN SAN FRANCISCO

If you’ve got your finger on the pulse of the film music industry, you may opine that one of the early darlings for Best Original Score come award season is The Last Black Man in San Francisco (2019). This unique and heartfelt score composed by Emile Mosseri is unlike anything else I’ve heard this year. It’s a nod toward traditional pencil and paper small ensemble scoring that doesn’t reek of a computer’s influence.

Tony Giles spoke with composer Emile Mosseri in another behind-the-music podcast about his work scoring the film. It’s always interesting to hear Tony converse with composers who are relatively new to the scene because he always asks the questions that lets his audience get to know them and their work quickly. If you’re not already familiar with the film, score, or the composer, this is a great introduction.
