Something Very Sinister Is Afoot In The First LITTLE JOE Trailer
Today brings us the very first trailer for Jessica Hausner's Little Joe, a sinister little sci-fi tale which screened to a largely positive response at this year's Fantastic Fest. It was, regretfully, one of the many films I didn't get a chance to see that week, but let's see what the trailer has to offer...
Hey, this looks pretty good! Atmospheric, weird, meticulously-composed...probably got a fair amount of commentary lurking between the lines, too. Hausner previously made quite the impression with her Lourdes (2009) and Amour Fou (2015), and we're very curious to see what she comes up with working in the sci-fi/thriller genre. We'll definitely check this out.
Here's an official plot synopsis, should you need one:
"Little Joe follows Alice (Emily Beecham), a single mother and dedicated senior plant breeder at a corporation engaged in developing new species. She has engineered a special crimson flower, remarkable not only for its beauty but also for its therapeutic value: if kept at the ideal temperature, fed properly and spoken to regularly, this plant makes its owner happy. Against company policy, Alice takes one home as a gift for her teenage son, Joe. They christen it ‘Little Joe.’ But as their plant grows, so too does Alice’s suspicion that her new creation may not be as harmless as its nickname suggests."
Little Joe hits theaters on December 6th. Think you'll seek it out?
