HBO Max Is Getting Its Own GREEN LANTERN Series

"In darkest day, in blackest night..."

Well, here's something we didn't see coming: HBO Max is getting its very own Green Lantern series, based on the DC Comics character of the same name.

Some of you may recall that, all the way back in 2011, Warner Bros. rolled the dice on a big-budget feature film based on the character. That gamble did not pay off, and in the time since there's been much speculation as to whether or not WB would attempt to relaunch the franchise. Now it appears they are...they just won't be doing it on the big screen.

Yes, Green Lantern is headed to HBO Max with Greg Berlanti running the show. Berlanti's got history with this character (he was one of the writers on the screenplay for that ill-fated, Ryan Reynolds-starring Green Lantern movie) and it'll be interesting to see what they do with the character's mythology in a series setting. Given all the alien factions and whatnot, we can easily imagine this material sustaining a full series.

There's nothing further to report at this time - we don't know who'll be in it, who's gonna star in it, how many episodes there'll be or when it'll premiere - but we do know it's coming, and that it'll also be joined by an Adam Strange anthology series called Strange Adventures (look for a separate post about that show shortly).

Well. What do you think? Into it? Not so much? Wondering when Greg Berlanti even sleeps? Sound off in the comments below.
