Keanu Reeves Is Playing A Magic Tumbleweed In THE SPONGEBOB MOVIE: SPONGE ON THE RUN

I am not of the generation that grew up with SpongeBob SquarePants, so my knowledge of the show is mostly limited to the various bits of SpongeBob iconography that I see online (generally in the form of memes). I know there's a SpongeBob, and I know there's a starfish (I think) named Patrick, and I know they live in a pineapple under the sea. Also there's a squid guy who looks exactly like Stephen Miller.

Today, however, we've got a new trailer for The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge On The Run, and it introduces a character who is, as far as I know, entirely new to the SpongeBob mythos: Sage, a magical tumbleweed played by none other than Keanu Reeves.

If you're thinking, "Oh, so now you're paying attention?", the answer is "Well, yeah." 

I might have no idea what's going on here, but this certainly looks like a good time. My suspicion is that I would very much enjoy the weirdo humor of SpongeBob SquarePants, and it's entirely possible that the inclusion of Keanu Reeves will convince me to take the plunge once this thing hits streaming. Everyone who's already onboard can see the movie when it opens on May 22nd of next year.
