All the way back in January, we learned that Al Pacino was climbing aboard his very first streaming series, a Nazi-huntin' jam from Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw Productions called The Hunt. Well, it's nearly a year later, and while Nazis are still very much a problem in the Brave Year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Nineteen (no, seriously, just go poke around Twitter for a bit) and The Hunt has now been rechristened Hunters (can't imagine why!), we're finally getting our first look at that Amazon series.
How's it look? Pretty great!
For anyone confused on the premise, here's how the series was being described back in January:
"The Hunt follows a diverse band of Nazi Hunters living in 1977 New York City. The Hunters, as they’re known, have discovered that hundreds of high ranking Nazi officials are living among us and conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the U.S. The eclectic team of Hunters will set out on a bloody quest to bring the Nazis to justice and thwart their new genocidal plans."
In addition to Pacino, Hunters will also star Logan Lerman, Kate Mulvany, Carol Kane (!!!), Saul Rubinek and Dylan Baker. The trailer above's pretty brief - we get only the slightest suggestion of the scale and tone of the thing - but what's here looks compelling, and that cast (and the creative team behind the series, which includes creator David Weil) is well worth getting excited about. We'll definitely check this out when it hits Amazon.
When will that be? We know that all ten episodes of the first season will arrive sometime next year, but that's about it for the time being. This one's probably a ways out, in other words, but we'll keep you up to date on all the goings-on with Hunters as further updates become available. Stay tuned.
