STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER Images Offer New Look At Knights Of Ren

That wrinkly old Emperor's in here, too.

Hey, it's Friday. Have some new Star Wars stuff. The latest imagery from The Rise of Skywalker comes to us from Empire magazine, which debuted four different covers for their upcoming Star Wars issue. Let's take a look-see, shall we?

First up are most of the heroes we've already met, along with a couple of new faces – Naomi Ackie's Jannah (a Resistance ally) and a new droid named D-O that looks like the Star Wars droid version of that Pixar lamp. The second cover includes veteran heroes Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) and Leia Organa (the late, great Carrie Fisher), and no, not a single goddamn porg between them (really starting to worry about those little dudes).

But it's the next two covers that are particularly interesting, with one – fronted by Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) – offering what might be our clearest and most detailed look yet at the Knights of Ren. We've only heard them briefly mentioned in the universe up until now, but they'll be appearing in The Rise of Skywalker along with their pouty, large adult goth friend Kylo. The design has an overall non-descript effect, while their beaten-up and battle-worn masks and clothing take inspiration from Japanese culture. They also look a group of tough dudes who are ready to bro the fuck down with a pitcher after kicking some space-ass.

And finally, there's the last cover, which shows Rey and Kylo Ren's hands holding their overlapping lightsabers (it's called symbolism, people) as Emperor Palpatine's wrinkly-ass head lurks behind them. He definitely looks... older, is the polite way of saying things. The realistic description is "he looks like an old shar-pei's wrinkly balls." Cool of him to stop by, though.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.
