Sounds Like MINDHUNTER’s Jonathan Groff Has Joined THE MATRIX 4

What, no Holt McCallany?

According to a new report over at Collider (who, it must be said, are very reliable in such matters), Mindhunter star Jonathan Groff has joined the cast of The Matrix 4, in an unspecified role.

Groff joins a cast which already includes Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Ann Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jessica Henwick and Neil Patrick Harris. We're still not clear on what the hell The Matrix 4 will be about, which of the original characters might return (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, for instance, is rumored to be playing a young Morpheus, but that has yet to be confirmed), or who the heroes of this particular installment might be (Neil Patrick Harris is alleged to be playing a villain, but again: that remains unconfirmed). One suspects Warner Bros. and director Lana Wachowski will be keeping this film's secrets for as long as they possibly can.

This is a huge get for Groff, but it's also a considerable get for The Matrix 4: as we've seen across the past two seasons of Mindhunter, Groff absolutely has the goods, and we're curious to see what sort of character he might be playing within Wachowski's highly-anticipated sequel. Got any guesses? Feel free to recklessly speculate in the comments below, and do stay tuned for further updates on The Matrix 4 as they become available.
