Alamo Drafthouse To Host Screenings Of HBO’s THE OUTSIDER

Whether you feel as though TV has become cinematic enough to warrant theatrical viewing, or you just enjoy watching small screen content on a much, much bigger screen, then HBO and Alamo Drafthouse's new partnership should have you pretty stoked. The network that kicked off the prestige TV movement is teaming up with your pals and ours at the Drafthouse for a series of premieres, starting with The Outsider – the new series based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. Earlier this summer, the Drafthouse hosted an early premiere of Danny McBride's The Righteous Gemstones, and the turnout was so excellent that the companies decided to keep it going, much to our benefit. 

For those unfamiliar, The Outsider is executive produced by Jason Bateman, who also stars and directs the first two episodes. The story follows a seasoned detective (Ben Mendelsohn) as he investigates the murder of a young boy. All evidence immediately points to a single suspect until a series of inexplicable supernatural events point in a wholly unexpected – and unimaginable – direction. The series also stars Cynthia Erivo, Bill Camp, Julianne Nicholson, Paddy Considine, and Mare Winningham. 

In addition to The Outsider, HBO will debut three other upcoming shows at the Drafthouse for a series of one-night-only sneak preview events. The Outsider will screen at Drafthouse locations nationwide on January 8, four days ahead of the series' January 12 premiere date. Oh, and the best part? It's free. We'll have more details and info on the other three, as yet revealed HBO shows premiering at the Drarfthouse relatively soon.
