THE MANDALORIAN Episode 7 Discussion Thread
As usual, this is a discussion thread so look out for spoilers.
Well, it’s been a rough twenty-four hours for Star Wars. I imagine many of you woke up to quite a few negative Rise of Skywalker reviews this morning. Maybe they’ve tempered your expectations. Maybe you see them as something to defiantly ignore. Or maybe you’ve accidentally navigated your way through the barrage and only found the good ones.
With all this focus on Rise of Skywalker it can be easy to forget The Mandalorian has released its latest episode today instead of Friday. And amid all this negativity, Star Wars now has a second chance at a happy Wednesday the 18th.
I can’t really think of any other reason to release this early. Baby Yoda does something that could be considered mildly spoilery for Rise of Skywalker, but wouldn’t they then want that to come out AFTER the movie opens? Who knows!
In any case, this was a great penultimate episode of The Mandalorian. It brings the story back to the beginning as Mando must finally resolve his Baby Yoda conflict with those pesky post-Imperial weirdos. He does so with the help of the show’s best guest stars: Carl Weathers, Gina Carano, Taika Waititi, and Nick Nolte. As usual, the set up is very simple and straightforward, with a brief stop for some Star Wars flying creature hijinks. But then things get serious and we lose some beloved characters.
What we have here is a cliffhanger. It’s going to get resolved next week. And then, no Mandalorian for a while. I will miss it. The show is simple, but that’s probably my favorite thing about it.
