Feels like a good time for a show like Hunters, doesn't it?
You've got Al Pacino in a starring role, coming off the back of two stellar 2019 performances (The Irishman and Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood). You've got Jordan Peele executive producing, which we all know is a good thing. And, perhaps most importantly, Hunters is a show about a ragtag team of American Jews hunting down and killing Nazis, which is a thing we always love to see but which we really love to see in 2020.
We needed no further convincing to watching this Amazon Prime series, in other words. Maybe you do! For those folks, I would like to submit into evidence the following NSFW Hunters trailer. It is very violent and does lots of swears, so don't watch this if you're at work with the volume turned all the way up, or at a Klan meeting (also, if you're at a Klan meeting, please stop reading this website, locate the nearest woodchipper, toss yourself into it, and await further instructions).
Looks pretty great, right?
Here's an official plot synopsis, in case any of the above was unclear:
"Inspired by true events, HUNTERS follows a diverse band of Nazi Hunters in 1977 New York City who discover that hundreds of escaped Nazis are living in America. And so, they do what any bad-ass vigilante squad would do: they set out on a bloody quest for revenge and justice. But they soon discover a far-reaching conspiracy and must race against time to thwart the Nazis’ new genocidal plans."
We're into everything going on here, from the show's look, to its tone, to its cast, to its apparent understanding that watching Nazis get hit in the face with bowling balls and blowtorched is something almost anyone can be entertained by. We will absolutely be tuning in when this hits Prime on February 21st...how 'bout y'all? Sound off in the comments below.
