I KNOW THIS MUCH IS TRUE Trailer Doubles Down On Mark Ruffalo

It's a post-Endgame world, and Mark Ruffalo is acting all up in it. The artist occasionally known as Hulk is following up his acclaimed performance in Todd Haynes' Dark Waters with not one, but two roles in I Know This Much Is True. HBO has released the first trailer for the upcoming limited series directed by Derek Cianfrance—and, as you might expect from Cianfrance, it looks pretty heavy: 

Based on the novel of the same name by Wally Lamb, I Know This Much Is True tells the story of Dominick, who is forced to care for his mentally ill twin brother, Thomas, when the latter hurts himself. The series also stars Melissa Leo, Rosie O'Donnell (I mean, what), Kathryn Hahn, Archie Panjabi, Imogen Poots, and Juliette Lewis, and premieres on April 27. Here's the official synopsis for Lamb's novel: 

Dominick Birdsey, a forty-year-old housepainter living in Three Rivers, Connecticut, finds his subdued life greatly disturbed when his identical twin brother Thomas, a paranoid schizophrenic, commits a shocking act of self-mutilation. Dominick is forced to care for his brother as well as confront dark secrets and pain he has buried deep within himself—a journey of the soul that takes him beyond his blue-collar New England town to Sicily’s Mount Etna, the birthplace of his grandfather and namesake. Coming to terms with his life and lineage, Dominick struggles to find forgiveness and finally rebuild himself beyond the haunted shadow of his troubled twin.

It's exciting to see Ruffalo really flex his serious acting muscles again, but we're just as happy to get another project from Cianfrance, who hasn't been behind the camera since 2016's The Light Between Oceans.
