This New ANTEBELLUM Trailer Might Be Even Better Than The Last One

Shorter than the teaser trailer, yes, but even more intriguing.

Despite being just under two months away from its arrival in theaters, we still don't know much about Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz's Antebellum. We know it's a horror film. We know it stars the great Janelle Monáe (along with Jack Huston, Kiersey Clemons, Gabourey Sidibe, and Jena Malone). We know it comes to us from the producers of Jordan Peele's Get Out and Us.

Beyond that, details are scarce. The film's official synopsis isn't exactly forthcoming ("Successful author Veronica Henley [Janelle Monáe] finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality and must uncover the mind-bending mystery before it’s too late"), but it seems safe to say - based on everything we've seen and heard - that Antebellum will be a racially-charged affair, one which may feature some kinda time travel/alternate reality element. Whatever game it's playing, it looks great.

Anyway, today brings us a brand-new trailer for the film. Curiously, it's even shorter than that one-minute teaser that arrived back in November (clearly they're playing their cards close to the vest here, and goddamnit do we respect that), but what's here looks excellent. See if you don't agree:

Yeah, say no more, Antebellum marketing team - we're all in for this one. We might not know exactly what we're getting into with this one, but the talent on display - from the cast to the producers to the cinematography from Pedro Luque - is undeniable. Whatever Antebellum turns out to be, it's likely to be something special. Consider us sold.

Nothing further to report on this one at this time, but stay tuned for further updates as they roll in. Bush and Renz's Antebellum will hit theaters on April 24th.
