Well, after the many delays, postponements, release date switcheroos and shuttered productions we read about last week, it should probably come as no surprise that filming has been halted on Matt Reeves' highly-anticipated The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Paul Dano and a bazillion other exciting names.
The news comes to us from The Hollywood Reporter, who say the ongoing coronavirus outbreak has caused Warner Bros. to half production on the film for two weeks, starting yesterday. Reeves and company have been filming on The Batman since January, and were on the verge of moving the production for a shoot in Liverpool when the decision was made.
Curiously enough, various other WB films remain in production, including the forth Matrix (which is headed to Germany even as we speak) and Will Smith's King Richard (still shooting in Los Angeles as of this writing). The next Fantastic Beasts movie (yeah, they're still making those!) is scheduled to begin filming in London in May, though we assume that production may hit a roadblock as well if...well, if things don't start improving.
Nothing further to report at this time, but our guess is that we're going to see many more of these production shutdowns before this is all said and done.
