And the unexpected news just keeps on comin'.
This time the curveball comes to us from Deadline, who report that Legendary has just signed Max Barbakow (the forthcoming PALM SPRINGS) to direct a new movie called GOOD BAD & UNDEAD, starring Peter Dinklage (AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, GAME OF THRONES) and Jason Momoa (AQUAMAN, also GAME OF THRONES). Based on an original idea by Mark Swift and Damian Shannon, GOOD BAD & UNDEAD tells the story of ...
Actually, y'know what, I'll let Deadline tell you:
"In GOOD BAD & UNDEAD, Dinklage will play Van Helsing, last in a long line of vampire hunters. He develops an uneasy partnership with a Vampire (Momoa) who has taken a vow never to kill again. Together they run a scam from town to town, where Van Helsing pretends to vanquish the Vampire for money. But when a massive bounty is put on the Vampire’s head, everything in this dangerous world full of monsters and magic is now after them. The intent is MIDNIGHT RUN in a Bram Stoker world."
Listen, Some of you are going to roll your eyes at this premise. Some of you will turn your noses up at any idea brought forth by Shannon & Swift, who wrote the screenplay for 2003's FREDDY VS. JASON. Still others will refuse to see a film starring anyone who reminds them of GAME OF THRONES. None of these things bother us. We will gladly plunk down our hard-earned $50 (or whatever it costs to go to the movies once theaters reopen) to see Peter Dinklage play Van Helsing to Momoa's gentle Vampire. Furthermore, we eagerly anticipate seeing these two on the lam - and almost certainly getting into both hijinks and shenanigans - in "a Bram Stoker world". Yeah, fuck it, why not? The Snyder Cut is real now, anything goes.
There's no word on when this one might go into production, much less when we might actually lay eyes on it, but rest assured that we'll be keeping a close eye on its progress as it works its way through production. Stay tuned for further GOOD BAD & UNDEAD updates as they roll in.
