Puppies! Alamo Drafthouse To Celebrate National Dog Day With ISLE OF DOGS
Do you love dogs? Do you love Wes Anderson? Do you love stop motion animation? If the answer to all three of those questions is a resounding "yessir!", then Alamo Drafthouse and Fox Searchlight have a great event for you.
On August 26th, 25 Alamo Drafthouse theaters around America will celebrate National Dog Day with special encore presentations of Fox Searchlight’s stop-motion insta-classic Isle of Dogs. As an added bonus, these screenings will be followed by a conversation recorded exclusively for this event between the movie's mastermind, writer/director Wes Anderson, and Isle co-star Bob Balaban.
But wait! We've got more treats for you happy beasts! Select Drafthouse locations will be bringing back popular special drink menu items from the original run of Isle of Dogs. These revived specials include such delights as the Trash Island Shake, featuring rich vanilla ice cream, peanuts, chocolate chip cookies, caramel, popcorn, Oreos, and Cocoa Puffs. As an added bonus, each Drafthouse location will be giving away a rare set of hyper-detailed Isle of Dogs figures to one lucky audience member. Each collection of these collectibles (that aren’t available in stores) features the five main dogs and the main character, Atari.
Tickets are on sale now for the screenings at Drafthouse locations across the country. 10% of all ticket sales for this event will be donated to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA®), a national non-profit organization that has advocated for animal welfare since 1866. For purchases made on drafthouse.com or through the Alamo Drafthouse app, guests will be able to make additional donations to ASPCA.
Speaking about the event, Anderson himself had this to say:
"What a combination: the ASPCA, Alamo Drafthouse, and Mr. Bob Balaban. I leapt at the chance to be a part of this little shindig and share our movie during its last days on the big screen."
