Watch The EXTRA ORDINARY Filmmakers & Cast Discuss Their Spooky Comedy

This Q&A is every bit as charming as the film!

Extra Ordinary hits theaters this week. Get your tickets here!

After delighting audiences on the festival circuit in 2019, Extra Ordinary is hitting theaters across the country this weekend. In honor of its release, writer-directors Enda Loughman and Mike Ahern were joined by stars Claudia O'Doherty, Maeve Higgins, and Will Forte for a Q&A following a special early screening of their new horror comedy at the Alamo Drafthouse. If you weren't able to make it, we have video of the full Q&A for your viewing pleasure. As you might expect, having these three very talented comedic actors on stage resulted in quite the charming Q&A—which won't come as a surprise to those of you who've listened to Higgins on NPR's Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!, or if you enjoyed O'Doherty's performance on Netflix's (tragically short-lived) Love, and, well, Will Forte hardly needs any introduction.

During the Q&A, the filmmakers discussed the unexpected origin of their horror comedy, which is set in a small town in Ireland where the paranormal is actually quite normal. Higgins plays Rose, a lonely driving instructor compelled to use her supernatural abilities to help the daughter of Martin (Barry Ward), a man who is also pretty lonely. Martin's daughter is being used as part of a Satanic ritual by a washed-up rockstar and his wife, played by Forte and O'Doherty. As the filmmakers acknowledge during the Q&A, Extra Ordinary has drawn favorable comparisons to movies like Ghostbusters, with its seamless blend of horror and comedy. Among the other subjects discussed: The challenges of filming a debut feature on location in one of the most beautiful countries in the world, whether or not actors should learn their lines on treadmills (Forte is a firm believer), the hilarious costumes and wigs, and much more. Check it out below, and be sure to visit your local Alamo to see Extra Ordinary this weekend!
