A QUIET PLACE PART II Gets A New Home

The film marches on sand from spring to fall.

A QUIET PLACE PART II was among the first bunch of movies to lose their release dates due to the coronavirus. I feel like back then (you know, a million years ago), the idea seemed wild and maybe even extreme. Now it’s hard to believe anything could ever come out again ever.

Which is why news items in which postponed films get new release dates make me happy. It’s a sign of optimism that in another million years, things may return back to normal. Or something close to normal anyway.

And so it is with spirit that I share the following: A QUIET PLACE PART II now has a nice and cozy September 4 release date, which I think will match its tone perfectly. I’m quite excited to see it. People took its absence from the SXSW lineup as a sign of trouble, but some folks got to the see the film back when it was going to be a spring release and spoke highly of it. I’m not a huge fan of the “people are the REAL villains” angle of the trailer, but the visual stuff all looked really thrilling. Could go either way, and that’s what makes me curious.

In any case, it’s going to be a rough summer, but A QUIET PLACE PART II thinks we’ll be on the other side of it by fall. A QUIET PLACE PART II is not a scientist, but you take your positive signs where you can get them.
