Why We Fight: THE OFFICE Gets Remade In Afghanistan
In which Dwight exclaims ‘Allahu Akbar!’ and blows himself and Jim to smithereens.
How do you measure success in the war in Afghanistan? Possibly by their adaptation of the trappings of Western ‘freedom,’ like their own version of The Office. Yes, Afghanistan has adapted The Office for their local market, calling it The Ministry and apparently shooting it in somebody’s bedroom.
What’s interesting is that The Ministry is set in the world of government - the Ministry of Garbage, to be precise - which I guess could lead to far greater satire than The Office‘s paper company setting. The first episode includes a suicide bomber joke. Here’s the trailer:
