MOONRISE KINGDOM Beats AVATAR To Become Highest Grossing Movie At Alamo S. Lamar!

AVATAR has finally been vanquished at the Alamo box office.

Here at the Alamo we're pretty fortunate to have not only the ability to program films outside of the five or six Hollywood blockbusters you see in every multiplex, but to have a large audience ready and eager to see a diverse range of movies. Our South Lamar theater in Austin has become a flagship for us of arthouse and indie titles as well as the big budget films that absolutely everyone wants to see.

For a couple of years Avatar has been at the top of our chart as the highest grossing movie in Lamar history. But as of this weekend, a new champion of the box office has been crowned: Wes Anderson's low budget, unassuming Moonrise Kingdom has knocked off Avatar to reign as the all-time top grosser. For those of you who are curious, here is the top 10 as it stands now.
