Continued Dan Aykroyd Rambling Leads To New GHOSTBUSTERS 3 Story Hints
I feel for Dan Aykroyd, I really do. At this point, I kind of want Ghostbusters 3 to happen and be a big hit simply because he's a Rocky at this point, and I never root against a Rocky.
Aykroyd did an interview with ABC News, during which he kept beating his Ghostbusters 3 drum, though he has now amended his tempo to include some possible new story ideas:
I feel re-encouraged, reinvigorated by the pages that I have seen. I know that we're expecting half of the screenplay to be completed very soon. It should be into production by the fall and be shooting by the new year. I won't say anything, it's very exciting. The Higgs boson and the particle theories, gluons and mesons, that really gives us a scientific base in terms of our fictional storytelling, to open up to another dimension and have something horrible come through.
Honestly, this scientific mumbo jumbo gives me a little more optimism than some of his other plot ideas have. At his heart, Dan Aykroyd is pretty nerdy, and my favorite thing about Ghostbusters is the science fiction angle to it. Maybe he could come up with a good, weird concept to help soothe whatever real world problems limit the film's potential team line up.
I don't know if I believe they'll be shooting this that soon, but then again, why not? People like to make fun of Aykroyd and his dreams for Ghostbusters 3 as if we don't live in a world where crazy old franchises frequently come back for another entry where everyone is old and grumpy. We'll just have to wait and see if they ever finish that half a screenplay or not.
