The New GHOSTBUSTERS Already Has A Teaser Trailer

They wasted no time on this one.

Last night, Sony dropped an unexpected bombshell on us: a new Ghostbusters is in the works from director Jason Reitman, whose father directed the first two Ghostbusters movies. According to reports, Reitman himself wrote the script with Monster House's Gil Kenan, it'll serve as a sequel to those original films (rather than as a continuation of Paul Feig's 2016 reboot), and it'll be along sometime in the summer of 2020.

Details on the plot are basically non-existent at this point, but that ain't surprising. Obviously there's a long way to go before this movie hits the silver screen, and much can change during that time (one wonders if Sony even knows if Bill Murray will be in it). Once the announcement was made, we figured that'd be the last we heard about the new Ghostbusters for a while.

Not so! The folks over at Entertainment Weekly just dropped a teaser trailer for the film, which...well, we're having trouble embedding their version of the footage, so here's a version that's been uploaded to YouTube.

As you can see, not much to go on here: you've got the iconic Ecto-1 sitting in a barn, someone offscreen fiddling with what sounds like a proton pack, that ol' familiar score. Obviously we're meant to wonder what the Ecto-1's doing out in the middle of nowhere and who might be in that barn with it, so let's get to it: hit the comments below to let us know what you think about the footage above, whether you think this is a good idea, what the odds are of Bill Murray returning to play Peter Venkman - whatever you like. That comments section is your oyster.

Stay tuned. Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters arrives next summer.
