I GIVE IT A YEAR Trailer: Another Really Good Looking Romantic Comedy
I Give It a Year looks like a film focused almost 100% on love and lack of love and friendships and cheeky insults and skinny people and does not appear to have Dolph Lundgren anywhere, yet somehow it manages to look really good. I blame the British accents.
Starring Rafe Spall and Rose Byrne as uncertain newlyweds, I'm actually not certain if this is a film where two people find out they make better friends than life-partners or if it's a film where adulterous flings make clear the true love waiting at home. I suppose that suspense will only benefit the film when I finally see it with my wife, just as an identical suspense benefits my daily domestic existence.
I Give It a Year was written and directed by Dan Mazer, who helped write Borat. The rest of the world has already seen it, but it opens here theatrically August 9, though you can get it VOD starting July 3. Between this and Richard Curtis' About Time, it looks like 2013 will be a better than normal year for romantic comedies.
