Watch Jackie Chan Almost Die A Bunch In This CZ12 Trailer

I'm not completely sold on CZ12, Jackie Chan's take on extending his Armour of God series without making a new Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for us all to loathe. But I am very close.

It doesn't seem possible that Chan can reclaim the madcap lunacy of his earlier work, but there are some promising indicators here. The thing where he appears to sprout wheels over his entire body and roll down a highway, for instance, has that "20 minutes of Jackie Chan repeatedly almost dying" magic to it. And the "I could kick your ass without leaving this couch" is exactly the kind of dumb-ass premise for a novelty fight that we love from these movies. I'm also a big fan of how the trailer just kind of stops being in English about halfway through. Fuck English, man. It's hard.

The plot finds Jackie Chan searching for the missing heads of 12 bronze Chinese zodiac statues. That he will find them all in one untouched duffle bag seems incredibly unlikely.

We won't have to wait long to see if this achieves its potential or just looks good in trailer form. The film comes out on October 18.
