All The Dead Characters Will Return In AVATAR Sequels

James Cameron reveals that Colonel Quaritch will be the Big Bad in AVATARs 2-4.

When I first saw Avatar I was about 90% sure that Stephen Lang's Colonel Quaritch was either computer generated or somehow CG-enhanced. I guess that isn't the case, but he looks more like a Final Fantasy cut scene character than any human being I have ever before seen.

Maybe he'll be CGI for real next time, as James Cameron has revealed that the dead baddie will be returning not only in Avatar 2 but also Avatars 3 and 4. How?

“I’m not going to say exactly HOW we’re bringing him back, but it’s a science fiction story, after all. His character will evolve into really unexpected places across the arc of our new three-film saga. I really look forward to working with such a gifted actor, who’s also become a good friend.”

Deadline is calling him the 'Darth Vader' of the series, which clearly means the repeating baddie, but could also mean he's going to be cyborg in nature. That would make sense with Avatar's thudding environmental themes - the good guys hairfuck dragons and talk to trees and the bad guys will be made of robot parts.

Quaritch is only the latest dead character from Avatar confirmed to return in the sequels. Sigourney Weaver will be reprising her role of Catlady, but I'm assuming as a Force Ghost. I expect it to be revealed that everybody who died in the first film will show up in the sequels in a sort of fan service. Who that fan is, I couldn't tell you.

Thankfully Lang is able to get time away from Terra Nova to reprise his role.
