GHOST To Possibly Become A TV Show

When I was a kid, my local video store, the prestigious Video West & East, which I believe is now a video store/cellphone provider/pizzeria, charged $2 for a new release rental. You got the VHS tape for 24 hours, and you were happy about it. But when Ghost came out, they pumped the price up to $3. Not for every new release, mind you. Just for Ghost. That's how big that movie was at the time. It even came in a white VHS shell.

Now I'm not sure how many people even know it exists. For whatever reason, Ghost does not seem to have maintained a new classic status the way a lot of other films from that era enjoy. If you want more proof, Tyler Perry featured the film heavily in the last Madea movie, a sure sign of cultural irrelevancy.

But maybe I'm wrong about that because they're making a Ghost TV show. Deadline reports that Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinker plan to write a pilot for Paramount's television division which would bring the story of Sam Wheat and his love of the word "ditto" back to people's eyeballs.

We'll just have to see what happens with this one, but I might be into it if they bring back those little Hell shadow guys. They scared the shit out of me.
