This Post Contains The Phrase MURDER IN THE WHITE HOUSE But Please Do Not Arrest Us

Here's a fun story: according to Deadline, Paramount has snapped up a spec script by the name of Murder in The White House, from screenwriter Jonathan Stokes. Described as something of a Knives Out-style whodunnit, the film does not yet have a director, but the mid-six-to-seven figures Paramount paid for Stokes' script indicates the studio will probably be hiring one very quickly.

Here's how Deadline's describing the film:

"Script has a ring of a Knives Out-style whodunit, set inside the White House. The President is murdered during a private dinner, and a female Secret Service agent has till morning to discover which guest is the killer before a peace agreement fails and leads to war."

Given Knives Out's wild success at the worldwide box office, it's not terribly surprising to see other studios looking to get in on the whodunnit game, and we're all for it: the moviegoing landscape needs more murder mysteries. And, hey, if someone wants to set one of those murder mysteries at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, well, that sounds like a swell idea from where we're standing. I mean, why not?
