The Saga Of BEVERLY HILLS COP 4 Continues

Did Jerry Bruckheimer finally get the banana out of this movie's tailpipe?

The story of Beverly Hills Cop 4 has been somewhat fascinating so far. Brett Ratner was going to direct it, but then people decided to make it a television show instead. Everyone wanted it. CBS got it. Then CBS saw the pilot.

Undeterred by that failure, Eddie Murphy and producer Jerry Bruckheimer went back to the movie route, hiring Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol writers Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec to write a script, which they are still working on.

And now the film has a new/old director: Brett Ratner! The lovely and well-liked director will likely begin work on Beverly Hills Cop 4 as soon as he's done with his Hercules movie. The original Beverly Hills Cop 4 was supposedly all about Axel investigating pal Billy Rosewood's "suicide" while also trying to get his new overweight partner laid or something. Hopefully that is not still the case. If you want people to like your new Beverly Hills Cop movie, it's probably best you don't off Judge Reinhold in the first five minutes.

Hopefully it does well enough that we can finally get Larry the Cable Guy as Jed Clampett in The Beverly Hillbilly Cop.
