HBO Brings Its Series To Amazon Prime

You're getting closer to cutting the cable.

HBOGo is a great, great service, one I use often. But I have an HBO subscription, and I know that a lot of people are too cheap to pay a few bucks a month to have some of the best programming in the world available to them. Good news (sort of) for those people: HBO will be licensing some of their series to Amazon's Prime streaming service.

I love Amazon Prime already; as a subscriber I get free two-day shipping. I also get all kinds of streaming stuff, although most of it isn't wildly different from what I get on Netflix. This HBO deal changes that - it brings shows like Deadwood, Six Feet Under, The Sopranos, The Wire and more exclusively to Prime. The deal only includes shows at least three years old, so don't expect to see Veep on there just yet. But you will be able to get early seasons of True Blood and Boardwalk Empire

This is the first time non-subscribers will be able to stream HBO content (the deal includes all kinds of specials and docs and made-for-HBO movies as well), and it truly cements Amazon Prime as a must-have for any media consumer.
