Looks Like They’re Remaking I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER
Looks like Hollywood is all done remaking good movies and now wants to suck the marrow from our regrettable empty nostalgia triggers. In other words, Deadline reports that Mike Flanagan and Jeff Howard are producing a remake of I Know What You Did Last Summer.
For those too young to know this, I Know What You Did Last Summer was a fairly typical post-Scream horror film. The bad guy was like a fisherman and he killed folks with a hook. I didn’t know people even remembered it enough to think about remaking it.
And yet they are! The idea is to make it really really cheap and then sell it at normal ticketing prices in hopes that this will supply a quick and easy profit. Where they thought up this crazy business model, I have no idea. Hopefully it doesn’t lead to another rash of movies that try to make money.
