Henry Cavill Aggressively Trying To Be More Than Just Superman With STRATTON
Henry Cavill has given us one of the best looking but least defined Supermans ever. I want to like him, but he gives me nothing to grab onto besides muscles and maybe some of that manly chest hair. Hopefully his next 100 Superman movies improve this, but I’m not optimistic.
So I put my Henry Cavill hope into other Henry Cavill projects. He will be in Guy Ritchie’s The Man From UNCLE, for instance. And now we learn that he will also be in something called Stratton.
For those who don’t know, and that includes me until just five minutes ago, Stratton will be an adaptation of Duncan Falconer’s (that name!) Stratton novels. Falconer was a special commando type guy in real life who used all that killing knowledge to write Dad books. They have titles like The Hostage, The Hijack, even just Pirate and Assassin. I like the "hey man, nothing fancy - let's just get to the action" simplicity of these titles.
Cavill isn’t just starring in this film (or films). He will also produce. The project will be a part of Cavill’s own production company, Promethean Productions, which he formed with his brother and producer Rex Glensy. That's some proactive shit.
It’s hard for a Superman to not be Superman. Hopefully Cavill can break out of that Superman funk. Filming should begin this spring.
