RICKI AND THE FLASH Trailer: No, Meryl Isn’t In A Superhero Movie
Meryl Streep rocks her way back into her daughter's life.
I saw this footage at CinemaCon and was intrigued; in Ricki and the Flash Meryl Streep is playing an aging rocker who is trying to reconcile with the daughter she basically ignored for her rock n' roll lifestyle. What makes this interesting? Well, Meryl Streep is having fun, Jonathan Demme is directing and Diablo Cody - the most unfairly hated on writer in Hollywood - scripted. But more than that, this is the kind of story that's usually told about men, and I like that Ricki and the Flash approaches the irresponsible parent thing from a new angle.
Ricki and the Flash opens August 7th.
