Ronda Rousey To Play Lead In ROAD HOUSE Remake

Pain don’t hurt. But this might.

Road House is such a strange, wonderful, and singular film that any attempt to remake it automatically has no chance of recapturing what made it so great. Maybe it can figure out a new way to tell a strange, wonderful, and singular story about the world’s best bouncer in the world’s nastiest bar, but that’s no small order.

MGM’s remake is at least trying to go their own way, however. According to Variety, super badass UFC fighter Ronda Rousey will take the lead role once occupied by Patrick Swayze. If we’re really lucky, her name will still be John Dalton. And if we’re really really really lucky, she’ll call up Brigitte Nielsen when she needs advice from her mentor instead of Sam Elliott. And if we’re even luckier than that, her name will still be Wade Garrett.

How much of the original Road House will this new version retain? Will John Dalton still sport an ironic zen philosophy? Will she still have a strange addiction ripping throats? Probably not. I have a feeling that this will resemble the original film about as much as Johnathon Schaech's DTV sequel did. Oh well, at least Rousey will get to fight a lot of gross dudes.
