PSA: The BLACK MIRROR Christmas Special Is Now Available Via Netflix

You could be enjoying a belated Christmas gift from Charlie Brooker right now.

We've written passionately about Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror here in the past. We urged you to check it out when the show finally hit Netflix. We've pointed out Black Mirror's unforuntate similarities to real life. And not all that long ago, we rejoiced upon hearing that Netflix would be hosting an all-new season of Brooker's series in 2016. All in all, it's been a good year to be a Black Mirror fan.

And guess what? The year ain't over yet and the good news hasn't stopped: Black Mirror's Christmas special ("White Christmas") has arrived on Netflix Instant. It's sitting there right now, waiting to be watched by you. And it's excellent.

The special is basically just an extended episode, but putting it that way undersells how great "White Christmas" is. Written by Brooker and directed by Carl Tibbetts, "White Christmas" features not one, but three stories. How interconnected they may or may not be should be left for you to discover, but rest assured that this special is one of Brooker's all-time greatest mindfucks.

In the grand Black Mirror tradition, "White Christmas" is equal parts jet-black comedy (pay attention to the subtle, weasely work done by Jon Hamm; a relatively quiet scene of him eating a piece of toast is among the funniest things I've seen on TV this year), biting social satire, and just-over-the-horizon sci-fi. I loved everything about it, particularly how flat-out horrifying the ending is. I watched the ep last night, and it straight-up gave me nightmares

So go forth, Black Mirror fans, and spread the word: "White Christmas" is available to (almost) everyone. Then head for the comments, and let us know what you thought of the special. Spoilers welcome.

PS: Here's a photo of Jon Hamm eating toast. You're welcome.
