Use The Internet To Watch The Trailer For LO AND BEHOLD, Werner Herzog’s Documentary On The Internet

First he distrusts our animals. Now he distrusts our computers.

The world spends so much energy having fun with Werner Herzog as a strange human that it can be easy to forget the guy actually is an acclaimed director of both narratives and documentaries. To assert that point, here comes his new film Lo and Behold, Reveries of the Connected World, which will play at this year’s Sundance and now has a trailer:

While there’s an unmistakable sense of “get off my lawn” panic present here, I love that the ultimate idea this trailer leads up to is the creation of a digital army to protect our precious internet. I’m for it. Not just to make sure the system doesn’t go down, but also to monitor comment threads.

If you think about it, who better to analyze the internet’s impact on society than Werner Herzog? He’s our warrior poet, and if anything deserves his tired gaze and apocalyptic pronouncements it’s definitely this madhouse.
