Dan Aykroyd Says New GHOSTBUSTERS Tops The Originals

And unlike the Angry Video Game Nerd, he's seen it.

Last night, Dan Aykroyd popped up on WhoSay to drop a bomb on anyone still crying about Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot:

"As originator of the original: Saw test screening of new movie. Apart from brilliant, genuine performances from the cast both female and male, it has more laughs and more scares than the first 2 films plus Bill Murray is in it! As one of millions of man-fans and Ray Stantz, I'm paying to see that and bringing all my friends!"

Yes, the guy responsible for giving us Ghostbusters in the first place is a big fan of Paul Feig's Ghostbusters. If it weren't certain to get me yelled at by Devin, this is where I'd insert a gif of Slimer putting on sunglasses and saying "Deal with it".

Angry fanboys will likely dismiss Akyroyd's opinion by pointing out that he has a vested interest in Feig's reboot (Akyroyd is, after all, receiving an Executive Producer credit on the film), but even if that weren't the case they'd probably say "Well, he's just trying to be nice". These are perfectly valid points. The trouble, of course, is that many of the people making said points will be the same assholes who just spent six months finding a million other reasons to pre-hate Paul Feig's Ghostbusters, and almost no one's taking anything those clowns say seriously anymore. Whoops.

Anyway, Ghostbusters arrives July 15th. We hope it's as good as Aykroyd says it is.
