Based On These Clues, Which Marvel Character Do You Think Sharon Stone Is Playing?
Alright, Marvel nerds, here's a chance for you to do your thing.
We've known for some time that Sharon Stone was signed on to appear in an upcoming Marvel movie, but we haven't been given any indication which character she might be playing or what film she might be appearing in.
But there's a new interview with Stone (alongside Alfre Woodard and Jane Fonda) over at the AARP, and towards the end of one paragraph the AARP drops a tantalyzing clue:
Meanwhile, Woodard and Stone are about to become very familiar to the highly sought-after comic-book-film crowd: Woodard's character is a villain in Marvel's anticipated Netflix series Luke Cage; Stone has been cast as a superhero — she'll only reveal that her secret power is heat — in a yet-to-be-named movie, also for Marvel.
OK, so: a hero - not a villain - whose superpower is heat, and she's slated to appear in an upcoming Marvel movie. The implication is that she hasn't filmed the role yet, which would seem to take Doctor Strange out of the equation (then again, I suppose it's possible she could appear in a post-credits stinger attached to that film). Of the MCU films already or about to go into production, that would leave Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, Thor: Ragnarok, and Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Of course it's possible that she's appearing in an even later film (the next Avengers, for instance), and it's also possible that she might be appearing in a non-Disney-owned Marvel property, perhaps something associated with 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise (the next Deadpool, the next X-Men, whatever the hell Wolverine 3 ends up being called). The playing field is wide, but maybe you can help us narrow it down with the aforementioned clues.
