Looks Like The New SOUTH PARK Game Will Take On Marvel Studios
We've known for some time that Ubisoft's South Park: The Fractured But Whole would be leaning away from The Stick Of Truth's fantasy trappings for something a bit more superhero oriented, but today we learned (via a brand-new E3 trailer for the game) that this highly-anticipated sequel also plans on giving Marvel Studios what-for.
This is all very exciting.
Ubisoft's first South Park game, The Stick Of Truth, was a hilariously funny, surprisingly deep RPG that ruthlessly mocked the fantasy genre, video game franchises (the Bioshock franchise's penchant for littering its environments with audio diaries, for instance), and gamer culture. It looked exactly like an episode of the show and, in my humble opinion, preserved much of the show's quality. Indeed, one could reasonably make the argument that The Stick Of Truth was better than several recent seasons of the show. It was fantastic.
The Fractured But Whole may be changing up its targets, but the quality of the product seems untouched. I cannot wait.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole arrives on PS4, XBOX One, and PC on December 6th. I'll be taking the day off to play it.
